The Fire Industry Association (FIA) has a newly released technical bulletin "User Responsibilities: Fire Detection & Fire Alarm Systems". This Technical Bulletin offers updated guidance for premises management to support the upkeep of their fire detection and fire alarm systems, aligning with the recommendations of BS 5839-1.
Appointing a designated person to oversee system compliance, testing, and record-keeping in collaboration with service providers is crucial, alongside routine checks of the system and user training. This, coupled with weekly and monthly testing ensures system familiarity and functionality, for continued optimal system performance.
