CEN-CENELEC has published a new, informative document offering a review of the main standards supporting the EU Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive.

The WEEE Directive 2012/19/EU addresses producers and importers of electronic equipment in Europe. It sets requirements and targets for the collection and treatment of WEEE.

The guide demonstrates how the directive integrates collection and recycling schemes aiming to tackle the stream of electronic waste, the fastest growing in the EU and expected to grow to more than 12 million tonnes by 2020.
