BSI have published a new general safety standard - BS EN 16156:2024 - Cigarettes. Assessment of the ignition propensity. Safety requirements. Did you know that the EN ISO 12863:2022 standard plays a crucial role in fire safety? This standard establishes a reliable method for assessing the ignition propensity of cigarettes, helping to reduce the risk of fires caused by unattended smoking.

Cigarettes with reduced ignition propensity self-extinguish when not puffed. To comply, no more than 25% of a tested batch should burn through their full length.

By adhering to these guidelines, manufacturers contribute to safer environments, lowering the risk of cigarette-related fires.
